(Hong Kong – 13 July 2007) Ocean Park is casting for over 250 roles for the upcoming Ocean Park Halloween Bash 2007, which will be in its seventh year. These roles include Halloween performers, Halloween dancers, stunt performers, gymnasts, and extreme sports specialists (Parkour, BMX or skateboarding afficionados.) The first audition took place today, on Friday the 13th.

Ocean Park will organize six walk-in auditions. Aspiring ghouls are invited to show the selection panel what they’re made of this Saturday and Sunday (14 and 15 July) and 20, 21, and 22 July, at the designated locations and times. (See Back)

Commenting on the first day of the audition, Ocean Park’s Events & Entertainment Director, Todd Hougland, said, “This is the third year that we’ve had open auditions to cast for the characters and performers for the Ocean Park Halloween Bash. We are setting a new record for the number of ghouls and goblins to be invoked – over 250 in all. This is an increase of 25 percent compared with the 200 odd characters for last year.”

He continued, “We are pleased to report that many of the performers who have had worked on the previous Halloween Bash, expressed keen interest to come back this year for another year of fright.”

Mr Hougland noted that the people who came to the auditions were all creative and expressive. “Other than looking for roving characters, we are also casting for energetic performers for what must be Hong Kong’s biggest Halloween revue,” he added.

Twenty-four year old Jan Lam was one of the people who came to the first day of the audition. He has had training in the performing arts. He said, “I’ve always loved to perform. Ocean Park’s Halloween Bash is undoubtedly Hong Kong’s biggest and most well-known, and I wouldn’t miss this opportunity to try out for a part in this huge event.”

“I am a firm believer that body language speaks louder than words, and therefore I used gibberish and lots of gestures to express myself. I am quite satisfied with my performance today, and really hope I can win myself a part,” Mr Lam said.

Another person trained in performing arts is Veronica Lam, who also showed up at today’s audition. She said, “I have played the role of the “Ghost Bride” for the previous Halloween Bash, and had so much fun, I want to make a comeback this year in a new role. I am urging my friends to join as the Ocean Park Halloween Bash offers such an unbelievably unique acting experience.”

Anyone over the age of 16 with a bizarre performing streak can try out for Ocean Park’s Halloween Bash 2007. Details are available at www.oceanpark.com.hk/ophb_audition.
